What to Expect at Your Initial Evaluation
The first visit is an initial evaluation. This is our time to get to your child and understand your concerns.
After initial introductions and going over your intake concerns, the rest of the visit might include formal and informal assessments to better understand what’s going on with your child. We conclude by explaining our initial findings with you and collaborating to come up with goals and next steps.
The initial evaluation typically takes 60 minutes and results in parents feeling hopeful and excited about what’s to come.
What to Expect from Each Therapy Session
Feel a sense of belonging and security when you walk through our doors each visit. You’ve found a partner who is going to walk alongside you, whether your child needs a few weeks or ongoing therapy.
We skillfully weave the most effective therapy techniques into every playful session. The pace of every child is different but our specialty is breaking down big goals into achievable steps inside and outside the clinic. Ultimately, we pride ourselves on getting to know your specific story and needs to provide support and resources for your home life.
Plan on 1 hour for OT sessions and 30 min for speech therapy sessions.
Answers to Common Questions
Is a diagnosis required to get therapy services?
Nope! We’re able to see kids with or without a formal diagnosis. Ultimately, we focus on your child’s symptoms and challenges and finding a path forward.
Is a doctor’s referral needed?
This depends on several variables, including your insurance and whether you need occupational, or speech therapy. Give us a call, and we’ll help you sort out if you need a doctor’s referral and how to get one.
How do I know if my child needs speech or occupational therapy?
We’ll help you figure this out! Explore our website to learn about each type of therapy. Ultimately, call our clinic and our staff will listen to your concerns and point you toward the right type of therapy to get started.
What’s included in the initial paperwork?
The initial paperwork includes consent forms and questionnaires about the development of your child and your concerns. At Thrive Therapies, we’re really interested in your perspective and priorities as a caregiver and that starts from the answers you provide in the intake paperwork. The forms generally take 15-20 minutes to complete and really help us get started on the right foot at your very first appointment.
Are all services at Thrive Therapies covered by insurance?
We work with quite a few insurance providers but unfortunately, not all insurance companies are great at covering pediatric services. We do everything in our power to get your therapy services covered and also work hard to point you in the right direction for supplemental resources whenever possible.
Additionally, we make pricing clear upfront when we offer groups or family opportunities that aren’t covered by insurance.
